6 Seasons and a God Damn Movie!

6 Seasons and a God Damn Movie!

Fans of the sit-com Community were ready to finally let the show go as it approached the deadline for news regarding its renewal. The cast made us aware that it could entirely go either way, but that their contracts would expire at the end of June so if we didn’t hear about it getting saved by then, it wouldn’t happen. Further damage was dealt when Hulu passed on picking the show up.

And then it…

Top moments from E3 - Day 1

Top moments from E3 – Day 1

So I’m making a rule. We can no longer refer to PS4 and XBONE as “next-gen”. They’re current generation consoles, it’s time to accept that. Ps3 and 360 are “last-gen”.

It was a long first day, with almost 11 hours of sitting watching a live stream full of awkward jokes and nervous game developers, but this is the round up from the first day of E3 2014

Microsofthad a solid conference, they managed…

This weeks Squid Soapbox question:

Batman has been one of the most popular superheroes for decades and his origin story has been told numerous times. But fans of the Dark Knight will be able to get a different look into the life of another essential person in the Batman tale later this year when the prequel series titled Gotham hits screens and concentrates on the struggles of Detective James Gordon. What do you think of the recent trailer for the show? And what are you hoping to see?

Justin Kruyer (via Facebook): I’ll be interested to see what they do with it (whether they incorporate some of the stuff from the New 52 DC Universe like the Parliament of Owls), but I think I’m more excited for the next season of Arrow and the fact that both The Flash and John Constantine are both getting their own series’.

James ‘Rodders’ Rodrigues (via Facebook): I think the trailer shows tonnes of promise for an interesting take on the origin of both Batman and Jim Gordon. But I worry they’re trying to appeal to Bat-fans too much with all the characters who are appearing prior to their supervillain selves. Plus, no moustache and glasses for Jim?

Vickey Barton-Tree (via Facebook): I thought the trailer thingy looked pretty good but then i thought the same about Arrow. Which is pants. I’m hoping it won’t go the same way. I’m glad that Gordon is getting a back story but ultimately, won’t it just end up being a Batman prequel? Again? For the bazillionth time?

I dunno. I hope it’ll be as good as its promising but i’m not holding my breath. As long as it doesn’t end up being another Smallville, I’ll be happy.

I just want to know when they’ll give us something Wonder Woman related. Oh, whats that? They’re not? Why am I not f**king surprised.

Andy Robson (via Facebook): Not really that interested tbh. If it’s on at the time i’ll watch it.

Scott James Holland (via Facebook): If its on a par with arrow, which is promising from the trailer, then it might be worth a watch. The problem is all the characters and what about the continuity with the films. I am also a little worried that the dc universe won’t work as well as the MCU due to the complexities of the characters. Still, I do hold out hope.

What do I think?
I’ve read that the show will reveal “stories never told” in the Batman universe and I’m hoping it’s going to be a lot better than the recent Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD*.
Executive producer Bruno Heller (who I’m a massive fan of for The Mentalist) wrote the pilot and in positive about this.
Anyone who’s ever read the Gotham Central comic will know stories set in Gotham but without featuring Batman can work and actually, in some cases be just as entertaining. For now I am hopeful this will be the start of something good
Gotham will premiere on Fox in the US this autumn, with a UK air date yet to be confirmed.

*I do realise that AoS picked up considerably at it’s mid-season but I was already bored, personally, after four uneventful episodes and have no interest to revisit the show at the moment.

Next weeks question:
In the week leading up to the release of Days of Future Past we learned that Channing Tatum is to join the X-Men franchise in a future movie as Gambit, despite the fact Taylor Kitsch’s Gambit had a role in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What do you think of this? Are the writers setting up even more continuity issues? Is this the worse casting since the Ben Affleck/Batman announcement or do you think Tatum will nail the part of everyone’s favourite Cajun mutant?

This is our new Batman

This is our new Batman

Probably the single most anticipated aspect of the 2015 Batman verses Superman film has got to be the Batsuit. Second to that, the Batmobile. To which Zach Snyder has given us our first look via Twitter

NBC Cancels Community!

Community is well known for it’s insecurity within the cast and whether it gets a new season. It’s been made very clear the NBC wasn’t the biggest supporter of the show and that it was essentially down to Sony and the Community fans that the show lasted this long. Every year fans of the show fear for the worst and are pleased when they see that it’s been renewed, but this year the worst finally…

If you’re like me, you haven’t played a Call Of Duty game in a long time, so for those who might be finding the franchise a little “repetitive”, theres some upcoming DLC that has none other then Snoop Dogg (Or Snoop Dragon or whatever bad ass animal he has decided to become this week) Narrating it.

Here is some of the best bits courtesy of OutsideXbox.

Community - 5 seasons and a renewal?

Communitys 5th season finished this past week, and as an avid fan, I’d be stupid if I didn’t talk about it.

Dan Harmon, the shows creator, was fired after the completion of the 3rd season and so a new show runner was bought in for it’s 4th season, which was renewed for a shorter run than the previous 3 seasons at only 13 episodes. During this run, Chevy Chase (who famously had several…
